The Nature Conservancy is a charity that is setup to help protect the environment that we have today. As everyone knows the plant and animal life that we know today, with all its diversity, is being threatened by indusrty. The Nature Conservancy was founded in 1951, and has helped work with over 100 million acres and helped protect over 5,000 miles of rivers around the world. The Nature Conservancy is a charity that has over 1 million members; therefor it is easy to see that this charity is stable and legitimate.
As everyone knows we are running out of natural forest, and what little bit of nature that we still have is being polluted. In todays society money is the main driving force. When a company thinks that it can make large sums of money nothing else comes to mind but the thought of achieving the largest payday as possible. The conservation of nature is the last thing that most people consider. We consider our families and their direct effect, but fail to look toward the future. If we dont help stop the abuse of nature there will be no more to save.
The forest that we have left, what little that may be, will be destroyed like the other if people dont start to act. A simple donation may not seem like a lot, but every little bit will help. Forests everywhere are being destryed and streams polluted. This can only go on for so long until we start to reap the negative effects of what we have done, both directly or indirectly by allowing it to happen unchallenged and not trying to do what we can to help.
The rainforest has often been refered to as the "lungs of the earth", because of the fact that they take in the air and turn the CO2 into something that we as humand and other animals can use. The trees located out there turn the carbon dioxide into oxygen. So destroying the rainforest could result in a build up of carbon dioxide, which in turn will cause global warming. For the farmers who think that destroying forest is okay if you are planting crops, the clearing of forest will diminish the amount of evaporation. This will in return cause there to be lass raining, and the dry grounds will not be good for crops.
Deforestation, by many conservationists, is thought to be the planet's greatest problem. In 1950, 30% of the earth's surface was covered by the rain forest. Today this once vast forest only covers about 7% of the earth's surface and is still declining.
The beauty and awe of nature can not be described in words. It is being destroyed more and more each day by slash-and-burn farmers, hungry business owners, and many other things. Though we can only speculate what is going to happen if the forest is completely destroyed, we are destined to find out firsthand if we keep going the way that we are headed now and the damages will be irreversible.
