Dejan Jakovic
My story
My name is Dejan jakovic and I am originally from the former country of Yugoslavia. I moved to Canada when I was six years old when the war broke out in my country. I've played soccer since I was seven years old, and soccer has been pretty much my life. I got offered a scholarship to go to UAB and I took it right away. Then again who wouldnt want to play soccer and get their schooling get payed at the same time. The first thing i noticed when i got to UAB was how hot it was. It took me the two first weeks to adapt to the weather because i wasnt used to that kind of heat.
Profile
I am
- Sophomore Season (2005)
I was a Second team All-Conference USA defender and also C-USA Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 31. I was one of top marking backs in country. I held Memphis's Dayton O'Brien (Hermann Trophy Candidate) and high-scoring Andy Metcalf to no goals or assists in the game against Mephis and scored a goal in the Georgia State win (9/11). I had three shots, all on goal, for the year. I started every game and missed just 11 minutes of play in 17 matches played.
- Junior Season (2006)
I was awarded First Team All-Conference and First Team Mid-West. Got First Team All-Tournament Team three time. I started off the season playing at the back and then was moved into midfield the last six games where i scored one goal and had four assists for the season.
